Hey all you Elder Scrolls Online subcribers: you’re getting five free days!

In case you missed an email from Bethesda this weekend, I have some good news to start your Monday morning.

Those that are playing Elder Scrolls Online have been comped five days of playtime from the publisher. Given the nature of server downtime, frustrating bugs, combatting bots and spammers, and lack of some critical guild features, this was honestly to be expected. To many, it felt like a matter of when, not if.

If you're eligible for your free five days, you should have received an email this past week with your redemption code. A blog post on Bethesda site states that eligible players were ones who set up an account by 8:00 PM EDT on May 1st, which is just over four days ago at the time of this writing.

Essentially, launch players have been reimbursed some game time while those who waited until May to pick up the game avoided a large chunk of server downtime. While there are still bugs present that are mind-numbingly frustrating, Bethesda vows the fixes are coming.

For what it's worth, I haven't played much this week, but that's not due to a lack of interest. The new Magic: the Gathering set released and I have an addiction to cardboard cocaine. I look forward to making my return to Tamriel this week, though.
