GoG.com Gets Guilty Gear and King's Bounty on Sale

Good Old Games has released two new games on their PC game download service this week. First up is Guilty Gear X2 #Reload. Released in 2006, Guilty Gear isn't all that old, but that's not the point. The goal behind this sale is to offer one of the best PC fighting games of all time (it's not exactly a crowded genre).

The second new release is a bit more obscure: Realms of the Haunting is a 1996 horror game that mixes Doom-style first-person shooting, point-and-click adventure, and live-action video to great effect. I've never played the game myself, but I'll be damned if it isn't an old school but awesomely innovative combination.

Along with new releases, GoG.com also has their usual weekend promo. This week's is a pretty great one, too, serving up a collection of games from publisher 1C. For a mere $37.92, you can get eight games. The list includes King's Bounty, which got a ton of buzz a few years back for its Heroes of Might & Magic-esque charm.

GoG.com also teased a big upcoming announcement. They'll be revealing a new publisher and a new line-up of games during their online conference on April 14. Speculation is that the publisher will be EA. If true, a massive library of classic games could be made available to the service.

Joe Donato Video games became an amazing, artful, interactive story-driven medium for me right around when I played Panzer Dragoon Saga on Sega Saturn. Ever since then, I've wanted to be a part of this industry. Somewhere along the line I, possibly foolishly, decided I'd rather write about them than actually make them. So here I am.
