Gears of War 3 to Offer a "Casual" Multiplayer Option
As Gears of War 3, one of the biggest titles of 2011, approaches, EPIC is making a strong aim to expand their user base. A "casual" multiplayer option will be added to allow accessibility for newcomers. While this may sound like an in-game gimmick like the deathstreaks that were introduced in Modern Warfare 2, this option truly allows "noobs" to get their feet wet in the intense, action-packed multiplayer.
While doing a Q & A session on Justin TV, Rob Fergusson, better known as Gears Viking, revealed that the new option will be introduced this fall when Gears 3 ships. He explained it simply as a mode where newer players can play against players who are also being introduced to Gears of War.
Since this announcement, many have been predicting that hardcore players will enter this mode and ruin the "training experience," but Fergusson explained that the game will search if you have played either Gears of War 1, 2 or the Gears of War 3 beta, and if it shows you have, you will not be allowed to enter the casual mode.
This option seems like a superb idea all around. I can't tell you how many times I have been thrown into a game I have never played and gotten destroyed by more experienced players. It also excites me that they are not giving newcomers an advantage in multiplayer but are allowing them to learn the ropes before throwing them into the action.
