Free Gears of War 3 DLC Coming Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year.  You have turkey, stuffing, cranberry, the Dallas Cowboys, family, a few more weeks before Christmas....and Gears of War 3? It looks like this year you're going to have a side of FREE Gears of War 3 DLC with that turkey.  That's right, today Epic Games has revealed plans to release the game's first free DLC, due out on Thanksgiving day. (November 24th for those of you who don't understand Thanksgiving is the third Thursday of November and not on a specific date).

The "Versus Booster Map Pack" will be a free release and will bring five new maps to the Gears of War 3 online modes.  Three of those maps include the maps that debuted today in the Horde Command Pack (Azura Rustlung, and Blood Drive) and a pair of levels that previously appeard on the original Gears of War (Swamp and Clocktower).  Although fans who purchased the Horde Command Pack today shouldn't feel too jipped as the additional characters, weapon skins, and Horde upgrades contained in today's DLC will remain exclusive to the Horde Command Pack.

This comes as great news to Gears of War 3 fans who got word today that Horde Command Back was actually released today, just a little late.

Unfortunately, I will not be partaking in the Thanksgiving "Versus Booster Map Pack" festivities right away, as I will likely be a turkey coma.
