Exclusive: In-game screenshot and details of Halo mission in Forza Horizon 4

*Halo music intensifies*

Forza Horizon 4 is one of the most anticipated games for Xbox gamers this fall. It’s a return to the beloved spin-off series in Microsoft’s acclaimed racer series and will bring many major new innovations such as dynamic weather and changing seasons. What many don’t know is that Horizon 4 will also feature a surprise Halo mission!

The mission was briefly teased at E3 via a map icon and a leaked screenshot showcased a warthog with the Chief or a spartan that closely resembles him driving around in Forza Horizon 4. This isn’t the first time Halo has crossed over with the Forza series as the Warthog has been a drivable vehicle in the past but this is the first time the series has really thrown all realism out the window in favor of bringing the Covenant and UNSC into the franchise.

Players will be driving a weaponless Warthog through a course to reach an extraction point before a nuclear explosion is set off. As you race to the finish, players will take in the sights which feature a Pelican flying in the sky, Banshees doing stunts around you, other Covenant vehicles taking up airspace, and even a Halo ring displayed prominently in the distance.

Players will also hear the voice of Cortana and “some other AI” according to our source. Our source also stated they’re not super familiar with Halo lore so they can’t confirm or deny if the mission is a homage to the famous Halo: Combat Evolved mission The Silent Cartographer or not but they believed the ring was what would trigger the explosion within the race.

It sounds like it’ll be some great fan service for Halo fans and will be a thrilling race to experience when Forza Horizon 4 launches on Xbox One and PC on October 2nd, 2018.
