Ex-Rare devs rally on Twitter for a new Banjo-Tooie
On Twitter, former Rare developers Grant Kirkhope and Stephen Hurst have voiced their interest in making a spiritual successor to Banjo-Tooie.
Kirkhope was the composer for the original, which released for Nintendo 64 in 2000 and Xbox Live Arcade in 2009. The confirmation on Twitter mentions that the account holder (@MingyJongo) makes a third developer campaigning for the new game, which would likely be a 3D platformer made with the Unity engine.
The developers want to create "a game that shares that same kind of humor, silly characters, fun gameplay, great tunes, and all that stuff that we enjoy making."
"It wouldn't be to try and recreate Banjo," the dev tweeted. "It would be something new."
It's possible the developers will turn to Kickstarter with their proposal.
