Ex-EA Staff Form New Studio
A number of former EA Tiburon employees have gone on to form a brand new development studio. Row Sham Bow will be an online game developer based in Florida. The upstart company hopes to create 60 jobs in the near future.
Former EA personnel include Madden 12 Creative Director Ian Cummings, EA Sports Chief Technology Officer Richard Wifall, and EA Tiburon GM Philip Holt. Along with them, an estimated 60 employees left the company to join Row Sham Bow. Currently, the developer's founder is an unknown senior executive from EA Tiburon.
EA Tiburon is responsible for titles such as EA Sports MMA, the NFL Street series, and the canceled NBA Elite 11. With 60 employees said to have departed, many of whom were involved in upcoming projects such as Madden 12, it's unknown how EA Tiburon will fare as a result of the collective departures. We can probably expect to see the developer seeking new employees fairly soon.
For the moment, Row Sham Bow has decided to stay quiet about any upcoming projects. Because the developer will focus mainly on online games, they've pretty much barred any and all interest from me, but MMO buffs are certain to watch Row Sham Bow closely. In regards to any potential releases, Holt said, "We aren't ready to talk about our plans just yet. When we are ready to talk, you can expect to find more at rowshambow.com."
