Evolution Studios shows off nighttime driving in Driveclub

Sony's Evolution Studios has released a new gameplay video for upcoming PS4 racer Driveclub. In the video, Evolution Studios shows off the day to night transition while racing. And it looks stunning. Check out the gameplay video below which Sony says will be available to download in full 1080p soon.

A few things to keep note of while watching (aside from how much better design director Paul Rustchynsky is at driving than I am):

The time of day is accelerated by x60. According to Brayshaw, "Accelerating the speed of time is something you can choose to adjust before you race."

The video is also captured from a version of the game still in development and Evolution Studios wants you to know that optimizations to the visual quality of the game are being made every day.

"All lights illuminate the environment authentically," Brayshaw points out. "The dashboard fully illuminates, so you can see the glow of the buttons in the control panel above the rear-view mirror and you can see the reflections in the windscreen and the driver’s window.

"Similarly, you’ll notice that the brake light illuminates the car’s active spoiler in the first two laps. Hopefully this will draw your eye away from the glitch with the car’s tyre smoke (which is missing) and excessive anti-aliasing on the Audi’s bevelled rear window frame… which we are of course still developing," he adds.

Brayshaw points out tons of other interesting tidbits on the official PlayStation Blog, but for now enjoy the gorgeous visuals in the nighttime time trial of Driveclub.
