EverQuest II to go Cataclysm-Style?

Kotaku recently visited SOE Denver and spoke with John Smedley, the president of Sony Online Entertainment.

Smedley, like the rest of the world, has watched World of Warcraft for the past five years, and their unique approach to a worldwide overhaul with the latest expansion definitely intrigues.

"We are looking at it closely, we have been for a number of years now," said Smedley. "Is it something we would do within the next expansion cycle? Probably not. But I think it's interesting."

Smedley also stated that he doesn't expect Catalclysm to further cannibalize his bottomline. "We have five years of World of Warcraft experience behind us to know that people that play EverQuest II don't play World of Warcraft," he said. "We don't see big dips in concurrency. We see a tiny drop for awhile."
