EverQuest Next Landmark still on track for January alpha

In late December, Sony Online Entertainment President John Smedley announced that EverQuest Next Landmark, the free-to-play world-building tool that accompanies SOE's EverQuest Next MMO, would enter an alpha stage in January. Well, we're now just nine days away from the end of the month and we've yet to hear anything about the game's status. Apparently, it's still on track.

When asked if EverQuest Landmark alpha is still planned for January, Smedly responded, "Yes." Unfortunately, that's all he offered on the subject.

So there you have it -- you can expect EverQuest Next Landmark to enter alpha some time between now and the nine days left in January. I'm assuming invites will be extremely limited at first, perhaps open only to veteran SOE game players.

EverQuest Next Landmark was announced in early August alongside EverQuest Next. The duo of games work in tandem as Landmark provides players with built-in modeling tools that allow the community's creations into the future world of EverQuest Next
