Epic Working on Five New Games, Embraces PC
Gears of War 3 may be all everyone's talking about at the moment, but it's certainly not everything developer Epic Games is talking about. According to Epic President Mike Capps, the company is currently working on five new games, none of which are related to Gears. The announcement was made today during a presentation at Gamescom.
According to Capps, the games are all being developed by the current team at Epic, with no personnel expansion being conducted within the company. Because of this, each title is currently in a different stage of development. "At Epic we didn't multiply the studio size by five when we started working on these multiple projects, so you can make assumptions about the size of those projects," stated Capps.
Additionally, Capps mentioned that Epic will now be focusing on the PC as a major platform for its releases moving forward. This is certainly good news for PC gamers, and if the company can put equal amounts of care into its PC and console games, fans are in store for some awesome cross-platform releases. "It's nice to target the PC as a primary platform again, not just for ports," said the Epic boss.
It seems that fans of Epic's previous work are in store for a lot of big reveals down the line. What could the company be working on? Are all five of these new games shooters? Will Epic be experimenting with some other genres? We'll have to wait to find out straight from the company.
