EA Plans to Stretch Star Wars: The Old Republic Out for a Decade

According to Electronic Arts’ CFO Eric Brown, The Old Republic MMO could see a 10-year lifespan.

“Our assumptions for break-even and profitability are not seven-digit subscribers," Brown said at the UBS Annual Media and Communications Conference in New York. "We think we can run and operate a very successful and profitable MMO at different levels. The key thing here is to really perfect the product. We’re shooting for an extremely high quality game experience. We view this as a ten-year opportunity.”

Opportunity and reality are not always the same thing, unfortunately. A lot of doubt has been cast on BioWare's reportedly $100,000,000 MMORPG, and I'm guessing Age of Conan and about 100 other high profile MMOs were hoping for a 10-year success story.
