Duke Nukem Forever Goes Gold

Duke Nukem Forever will always be known as the game that quickly became a running gag within the industry and among gamers. After it was delayed, canceled, revived, and delayed some more, there's no denying the humorous development cycle of this first-person shooter. Even to this day, some gamers genuinely believed the game would never see the light of day.

It looks like that won't be the case because Duke Nukem Forever has officially gone gold. Now, we all know that Gearbox had previously announced the game's launch date of June 14, but due to past circumstances, it is definitely worth noting that a game has gone gold when that game is Duke Nukem Forever. After all, it seemed like this title would never be released.

"Duke Nukem Forever is the game that was once thought to be unshippable, and yet here we are on the precipice of history," announced 2K Games President Christopher Hartmann. "Today marks an amazing day in the annals of gaming lore, the day where the legend of Duke Nukem Forever is finally complete and it takes that final step towards becoming a reality."

Publisher 2K and developer Gearbox are undoubtedly excited to finally finish the game. And longtime fans of the game who have been waiting for this day to come are sure to rejoice. Duke Nukem Forever is real, folks.
