Doctor Who clip unveils Pearl Mackie as The Doctor’s new companion

Someone new has stepped in to mend The Doctor's broken hearts.

The BBC has just dropped a clip for the new season of Doctor Who which unveils The Doctor's newest companion, Bill, played by newcomer, Pearl Mackie. Check it out above!

Whovians the world over were left with a gaping hole in their hearts after witnessing the death of The Doctor's beloved companion, Clara Oswald (played by Jenna Coleman), towards the end of last season. Whenever a companion makes their inevitable departure from the 53 year running sci-fi epic, the speculation game always launches into full swing for who will fill the void. Its common knowledge that The Doctor must always have a faithful companion. Whether they're younger, older, or mechanical, the show cannot truly be complete without The Doctor's counterpart to constantly awe in astonishment.

Usually, BBC does nothing more than issue a press release to announce the newest addition to Team TARDIS, but this time, they went all out and actually revealed a finished scene featuring The Doctor and Bill (Pearl Mackie). Mackie had this to say on twitter:

Unfortunately, 2016 will not be seeing a new season of Doctor Who. Filming for the next season isn't scheduled to begin until this May, which means the only new episode we'll be getting is the traditional Christmas special, which will be used to introduce Bill to the fold. Season 10 isn't slated to air until spring 2017, news made all the more difficult by the fact that BBC has pulled all episodes of Doctor Who from every streaming service like Netflix and Hulu, to make way for their own service. No word yet on when that'll be ready for the public, so until then, be sure to stock up on Blu-rays!
