DICE Says There’s an Audience for Mirror’s Edge

DICE may be focusing all of its current efforts on Battlefield 3, but it still hasn't forgotten about its other franchises. Specifically, it hasn't forgotten about Mirror's Edge. For some time now, gamers have been hoping to learn more about the series' future, but the developer has been pretty quiet about it.

Though DICE still isn't revealing any major details about a Mirror's Edge 2, it has become evident that the company hasn't given up on the series. As a matter of fact, DICE Producer Patrick Liu has stated that the company is aware that there's a Mirror's Edge following. So if you're a fan, don't give up hope just yet.

"We see that there's a huge fan following, it's almost like a cult!" Liu told Spong. "And we know what strengths we had, and what weaknesses we had in that game. If we were to release a new game, we'd know what to improve and how to reach a broader audience. So I definitely think there's a market there."

EA and DICE continue to stress that Mirror's Edge hasn't been abandoned. They've even gone so far as to say that it's a very important IP. Whether we'll learn more about a Mirror's Edge 2 in the near future remains to be seen, especially with the current focus being entirely on Battlefield 3, but it's good to know that DICE is still talking about the series. Like the old cliche goes, where there's smoke there's fire, and you can have your cake and make lemonade … or something of that nature.
