Deus Ex: Human Revolution Steam Details

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is hitting Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on August 23, but Eidos Montreal has made an announcement that is sure to please PC gamers. In addition to selling at retailers across North America, the highly anticipated cyberpunk title will also be available for purchase on Steam. Both the standard and Augmented Edition versions of Human Revolution are currently available for pre-order at the digital retailer.

If you plan on buying either version of the game, be sure to get your preorder in soon, as the standard and Augmented Edition are currently priced at $44.99 and $53.99, respectively. No word on how long the price cut will last, but Eidos Montreal has confirmed that it's a limited time deal. The Augmented Edition will include the following extras: animated storyboard of the CGI trailer, digital 40-page art book, free downloadable copy of Deus Ex Game of the Year Edition, "making of" feature, motion graphic novel, soundtrack, and trailers. Additionally, the Steam version will come packed with Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud support.

According to Jurjen Katsman, founder and president of PC co-developer Nixxies, the PC version will sport enhanced visuals thanks to the hardware. While it will be essentially the same game as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, Human Revolution on the PC will enjoy the added benefit of running on a platform that can, when adjusted, make the game look even more stunning. "For graphics, there are some unique features, like smoother shadows, more realistic ambient occlusion effects, stereoscopic 3D--various things that the extra hardware allows us to do," said Katsman.

Besides the boosted visuals, the developers also want gamers to know that Human Revolution isn't just a port of the console versions. It's a "true PC game." Gamers playing this title on their PC will have the option of using a controller, but those who use the mouse and keyboard configuration will recognize the control scheme, which the developers have kept as close to the original Deus Ex as possible while incorporating new commands. And, as expected, the controls will be completely customizable.

If you have yet to pre-order your copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, now would be the time. If you plan on getting the Steam version, you'd better do so quickly so you don't miss out on this special deal.
