Detective Pikachu Movie Is Eyeing Some Big Name Action Stars To Voice Pikachu

The odd movie concept tags top actors for voice roles.

We learned recently that the Detective Pikachu movie will begin filming in January, but the Gumshoe Pikachu has yet to have an announced voice actor. But there are a few big names on the shortlist for who the studio wants in the lead role.

According to That Hashtag Show, big names such as Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson are allegedly wanted for the role. Don't get too excited yet though, as none of the actors have had any official meetings regarding the role.

What we know about the film so far is that it's directed by Goosebumps director Rob Letterman and written by Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch, the creator of Gravity Falls.

A game staring Detective Pikachu was released in Japan, with no plans mentioned to bring it to the west. We could easily see that change depending on the movie's success, however.

Who could you see as Detective Pikachu? We're particularly tickled that he is planned to have an action-star voice.
