Deadly Premonition for PS3 announced at GDC

At GDC, Yasuhiro Wada teased an enhanced version of Deadly Premonition for PlayStation 3. He made the announcement at his Harvest Moon presentation today.

Wada is the creator of the farm/life simulation series and served as executive producer on Deadly Premonition through Japanese publisher Marvelous Entertainment, where he works. He's collaborating with the game's designer, Hidetaka "SWERY" Suehiro, to bring the cult hit to PS3.

The title was originally released for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Japan, but Wada said unforeseen challenges prevented them from releasing the "full experience" and publishing the PS3 version in the West.

The upcoming PS3 release is an enhanced version of the original. "We still have a few hurdles to overcome, but hopefully we'll be able to show you something at E3," said Wada.

Despite the game's technical problems, people have responded positively to Deadly Premonition, leading to its strong cult following.

IUP's Bob Mackey (@bobservo) spoke directly to Wada after the conference and debunked rumors of a proposed sequel.

Hopefully fans get the long-awaited PS3 version sometime this year. I know I'm looking forward to more long drives with York Morgan. Copy that, Zach?
