This week, Dark Horse made public a special comic in anticipation of Prototype 2. In the first of three different story arcs, Prototype 2 #1: The Anchor, Part 2 leaves Alex Mercer alone and under attack:

The first of three story arcs from the writer of Protoype 2 wraps up!

In the conclusion to “The Anchor,” Alex Mercer has found a place he feels at home, but now it too is under attack. As he reveals his abilities to fight back, he discovers that even his benefactors in the northern cabin where he’s staying hide dark secrets. With no one left to trust, Mercer’s new mission is to get out alive!

Dan Jolley, writer of Prototype 2, concludes "The Anchor" and bridges the stories of the first and second game. Paco Diaz provides artwork and Michael Atiyeh handles colors.

One week earlier, on February 22, Dark Horse also released the first issue of Dragon Age: The Silent Grove. David Gaider, lead writer of Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II, penned the story with assistance from Alexander Freed (co-writer), Chad Hardin (artist), and Michael Atiyeh (colorist):

From the lead writer of BioWare’s Dragon Age games comes this original six-part story, available exclusively from the Dark Horse Digital Store!

It’s unusual for a king to embark on a dangerous quest himself rather than send an emissary, but King Alistair Therein has caught wind of a rumor big enough, and personal enough, that he is compelled to investigate—though not alone. With deadly, wisecracking mercenaries Isabella and Varric by his side, Alistair travels to a city of assassins to learn the truth about his kingdom and his own reign!

The two digital exclusives are 14 and 15 pages, respectively—short for a comic, even by today's standards.

Prototype 2 is planned for release on April 24, 2012.
