Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Adds New 'Arsenal' Mode Based Off Popular Gun Game Mod
Valve and leading technologies announced today that they are working directly with the creators behind popular Counter-Strike mod Gun Game to officially add a similar mode to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO).
The original Gun Game mod starts players with a pistol and rewards them with a new weapon every time they get a frag. Players progress through all the sidearms, then moving onto the shotguns, assault rifles, etc. until they obtain the greatest weapon: the knife. In the original, whoever gets through all the guns and stabs someone with the knife wins the round. Gun Game modes also appear in Call of Duty: Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3, and have been modded into heaps more games.
Valve is taking a stab at the popular mod with their own version, named Arsenal Mode. "Arsenal: Arms Race" and "Arsenal: Demolition" add eight new maps and expand on the classic Counter-Strike gameplay. While the exact details of each version of Arsenal haven't been revealed, one can assume Demolition is Counter-Strike's standard DE mode with Gun Game leveling, while Arms Race might be an exact replica of the Gun Game team deathmatch.
"We are excited that Valve reached out and is working with us to ensure Arsenal Mode is the best version of Gun Game.", said Michael Barr project lead of Gun Game
Targeted for release via Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam (for PC and Mac) in early 2012, CS: GO will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 12 years ago.
