Console Port of Crysis Dated

Earlier this month we reported that the original Crysis was being ported over to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Once a beloved PC exclusive, this FPS title was considered a true benchmark for what high-powered hardware was capable of. Now, we're getting it as a downloadable title on home consoles.

This is most definitely great news, and gamers who missed out on the game the first time around due to its steep requirements can now check it out on their platform of choice. The game has been dated for an October 4 release on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. That's a little over a week away, so if you've been waiting years for this day, be sure to mark your calendar. Also, if you were literally waiting years for this day to come, that's kind of sad ... in an endearing way, of course.

Crysis will be priced at $20, which isn't a bad price at all. Looks like some of you will be adding another title to your list of must-buy games for the fall season. It seems like the number of awesome releases from now until the end of the year just keeps increasing.

I've never played the original Crysis because my PC just can't handle it. As a result, I skipped Crysis 2 because I don't like getting late starts on franchises (even though I tend to give in from time to time). Now that I can play the original Crysis on my PlayStation 3, you can bet I'll be catching up with this FPS series. I'm certain plenty of you will be doing the same.
