CoD 4 and MW2 Map Files Discovered in Modern Warfare 3
Do you absolutely hate the new maps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3? Judging from fan reaction, they just don't provide the same feel as the maps in CoD 4 or MW2. It may be nostalgia, it may be the fact that many of the maps are too small, cramped, or it may be that fans just aren't used to them yet.
Whatever the reason, CoD fans longing for the return of some older style maps may be in luck. Discovered by Reddit users, SMKTZ, it looks like Infinity Ward has plans to bring back some "classic" maps from previous Modern Warfare titles. Three CoD 4 maps - Crash, Crossfire, Strike, and Overgrown - along with Highrise from Modern Warfare 2 were found in the Modern Warfare 3 map files.
Reviving classic maps is nothing new for the Call of Duty series. Strike, Vacant, Crash, and Overgrown were remastered with the MW2 engine from CoD 4. While it's important to remember that this "leak" does com from Reddit and should be taken with a grain of salt, it's not completely unreasonable for IW to offer these as part of Elite's monthly DLC drops.
