Clone Drone in the Danger Zone hits Steam Greenlight today

I refuse not to have some Kenny Loggins reference handy whenever Clone Drone in the Danger Zone comes around. Now with that out of the way, the big news from the in-development robot arena action title is that the game has officially made its way to Steam via the Greenlight program. Starting today, Steam users everywhere can vote Clone Drone in the Danger Zone onto the world's most popular digital games distribution platform.

To celebrate the launch of the Greenlight campaign, one-man developer Doborog Games is updating the game to include an all-new weapon, a giant hammer that smashes anything it touches into little pixels. Erik Rydeman, the game's lone developer, is also assuring fans that the game will continue to be supported and sold on its current platform, itch.io.

He said:

"We're looking forward to launching on Steam and connecting with an even larger audience! Refining the game on itch.io has been a pleasure and, of course, we'll continue to sell the game there."

Just in case you have no idea what a Clone Drone in the Danger Zone is, you can check out this official feature list, courtesy of an official press release.

  • Dismembering Opponents: The ability to cut off body parts is central to the gameplay. Jumping on one leg is a common occurrence. Large enemies need to be cut down to size before a fatal blow can be delivered.
  • Skill Intensive Combat: Combat is fast and intense, putting great emphasis on movement, timing, and positioning. Pick your poison with an array of weapons to take enemies down.
  • Entertaining Commentary: With 8,934 spoken words, Commentatron and Analysis-Bot provide a running commentary of your performance and react to your activities.
  • Twitch Mode: See the Twitch chat come to life in-game and place bets on how the streamer will die. Use the Danger Coins you earn to help the streamer or spawn more enemies!

The plan right now, according to the official Clone Drone site is for the game to release on Steam by mid-March. If you want to check out Clone Drone in the Danger Zone on Steam Greenlight, head over here.
