Clash of Clans update ‘just around the corner’, so here’s everything we know

Full recap of the changes and features coming with Clash of Clans new update

It appears that Supercell is done with the sneak peeks for this month's Clash of Clans update, as the developer confirmed today that the update is "just around the corner."

With the release imminent, we've put together a recap of everything — or at least the major changes and improvements — coming with this month's update. Here's a rundown of the changes coming this month to Clash of Clans.

New level 7 Lightning Spell

The new level 7 Lightning Spell will be made available at Town Hall 10, which means the level 6 Lightning Spell will be available at Town Hall 9. Additionally, the damage for both level 5 and 6 have been increased.

Spell Reworks

Four spells are being reworked with the new update.

  • Lightning Spell: Bolts will strike closer together for increased accuracy. However, this also means that you'll have to have better aim when dropping the Lightning spell as the area of effect is now smaller.
  • Poison Spell: Instead of doing flat damage, the Poison Spell will now do increased damage depending on how long a troop stands in it. Affected defending troops will also have their attack rate reduced
  • Earthquake Spell: The Earthquake spell will now do a flat 25% damage on a building regardless of how many hitpoints that building has left. That means if a building has 20% of its overall health left, the Earthquake spell will destroy it. The downside now is that repeated Earthquake spells will do diminishing amounts of damage on a specific building.
  • Freeze Spell: Will now be able to freeze air troops.

More Walls with a New Look!

Level 11 walls are getting a new look, replacing the electric blue with a more appropriate lava-filled wall more in line with Town Hall 10.

The Wall maximum has been bumped up by 25, meaning you can now place 275 Wall pieces.

Clan War Tiebreaker – "Total Destruction"

The update will introduce a new "Total Destruction" system that'll now determine a winner should a Clan War end with an even score. Should a Clan War end with even stars on both sides, the clan with more destruction percentage in their best attacks will be declared the victor.

New One-Week Shield

Available for 250 gems and only to players in Titan III and Titan II Leagues, the one week shield will prevent all attacks on your village for seven days.

That's all for the September update, but stay tuned as Supercell has promised a "big" update coming in October (presumably around ClashCon).
