Chrono Trigger Gets ESRB Rating for PS3, PSP
PlayStation 3 and PSP owners are in for a real treat. Square Enix's classic RPG Chrono Trigger has officially been rated by the people at ESRB (or possibly a computer). News of the game's re-release is long overdue, as many fans have been expecting Chrono Trigger to hit Sony's current home and portable platforms for quite some time now. Given Square Enix's knack for crafting solid RPG experiences, it should come as no surprise that the classic SNES game is so widely beloved.
Unfortunately, the ESRB didn't give additional details on either port of the game. We can probably rule out the original version hitting Sony consoles, though. This will most likely be the PSOne version of the game that was released back in 1999 and 2001 in Japan and North America, respectively.
Of course, I could be wrong. I think it would be really cool if Square Enix released the updated DS version that featured extra content while retaining all of the charm of the original SNES title. Here's hoping! Maybe Square Enix will even be awesome enough to release two different versions of the game for PlayStation 3 and PSP.
No details regarding pricing or an exact launch date have been announced, but let's hope Chrono Trigger comes sooner rather than later. The game is rated T for Teen due to fantasy blood and mild violence. I have to ask, though: Does anyone really care what the game is rated and why? Of course not! It's Chrono Trigger!
