Cam Newton leading Madden NFL 13 Cover Vote

If the Madden NFL 13 Cover Vote ended today it looks like Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton would be the winner.

According to ESPN's Jon Robinson, Newton has already received more votes than any other player in the competition.

Of course, there is still a long way to go before he becomes the official cover boy of Madden NFL 13.  With still a week left in the teammate vs teammate play-in round, anything can happen – as evidenced by some startling results in the competition so far.

A few upsets are in the making as Robinson revealed last year's cover vote runner-up Michael Vick is in "serious danger" of losing the play-in round to teammate LeSean McCoy.

Another potential upset appears to be on the Denver Broncos, with Von Miller gaining enough support to get with in "striking distance" of Tim Tebow, current QB and soon-to-be backup to Peyton Manning who just signed with the team today.

Another thing to note is that Brandon Marshall and Brandon Lloyd are leading their team's vote, although neither one is currently on the team they are representing.

As I predicted, New York Giants' receiver Victor Cruz is "killing it right now in the vote".  As I said before, I would not be surprised if he makes a decent run for the cover.

It looks to be an exciting vote for this year's Madden cover.  As mentioned above, this is just the play-in round where two players from each team are pitted against each other, the winner moving on to the top 32 and so on.  If you want your opinion to be counted, head on over to the Sports Nation Facebook page and cast your vote for Madden NFL 13.
