Call of Duty: Ghosts 2 reportedly in development to release November 2016
I doubt it.
Activision promised a 'new innovative Call of Duty' game from Infinity Ward and that apparently means adding on to the Ghosts series in the Call of Duty franchise -- if the February issues of Games TM is to be trusted.
According to a scanned copy of the Games TM magazine, revealed to Fraghero from a reader named Mari Fernett, the next Call of Duty game will be 'Ghosts 2' and will release in November 2016. The magazine went on to speculate on 'Ghosts 2' and what Infinity Ward would need to accomplish:
When creative strategist Robert Bowling exited Infinity Ward in 2012, he put the departure down to the studio doing “too much ‘pew pew’ not enough new new.” We got a look at what he meant with the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts – a solid, yet unspectacular next-gen debut for the franchise. Infinity Ward will have had three years to work on a follow up, and it needs to showcase the same creative spark that once put in on the map with Modern Warfare back in ’08 if it wants any chance of standing shoulder to shoulder with Sledgehammer and Treyarch.
It's interesting that the magazine decided to choose 'Ghosts 2' as the title of the game, as the developers have teased a space oriented game by releasing an image of 'reaching new heights,' along with an astronaut.
A November release isn't particularly interesting either, as every Call of Duty game releases around the same time of year... Every year... Around November.
The Games TM magazine went on to comment on Battlefield 5 and Destiny 2. As for those two games, Battlefield 5 was recently leaked as a WWI shooter and Destiny 2 was confirmed for 2017 (although the article seems to believe it will release this year, however, a large expansion to Destiny is planned for this year).
