Buy DC Universe Online Used and You'll Get an Unpleasant Surprise

If you see a used copy of DC Universe Online for PS3, don't even think of grabbing it. It seems each new copy of the game comes with a one-time use code to activate it, and if that code has already been used, the game is essentially worthless.

When contacted for comment on the matter by Lazy Gamer, SOE confirmed the issue:

“Once the PSN key has been consumed with a disk it cannot be resold/replayed with the second user adding a sub – only the original consumer can use that acct.”

Incentives to keep games or avoid buying used are all the rage now, with $10 multiplayer passes, additional single-player content, and more enticing consumers to buy new. DC Universe Online, on the other hand, makes the used copy completely worthless, cutting the second hand market out entirely. Do you think this is bad business on SOE's part, or fair game in a market that likes to cut the original authors out of the profits?
