Broken Lizard sets new goal at $3 million for Super Troopers 2

With the "skinny" version a go, Broken Lizard aims for the "muscular" version

As we reported yesterday, Broken Lizard hit its IndieGoGo funding goal, raising $2 million in just 24 hours. As promised, it's enough to allow the comedy team to begin production on Super Troopers 2, a sequel to 2001's indie comedy which followed five Vermont state troopers attempt to solve a crime in order to save their jobs.

But as we've pointed out, the $2 million only allows them to make the most basic "skinny" version of Super Troopers 2. There's still 30 more days left in the campaign, which means there's still time to raise even more money to help Broken Lizard make a movie "you'll love even more."

In their first update since achieving their goal, Broken Lizard created a follow-up video in which Thorny returns to the car that Farva has been locked in. Although they tell him that they've hit their goal of $2 million dollars, they tell him they won't let him out until they hit their new goal of $3 million. At the time of this writing, they are already half way there.

Here's their more official update:

You boys like Mexeeeco??  You girls like Mexeeeco???

Holy shitballs!! In just over 24 hours we hit the first milestone.

If we could cry, we'd be crying. Thank you so much. Sincerely. We can make the skinny version of Super Troopers 2 but I think we all want the muscular version so let's keep going.

It's unclear exactly what the $3 million will allow them to add into the film, but the group did say they have "some big stuff in the script," vaguely hinting at "More action, more cameos, more shenanigans, and fine, more Farva."

Again, there's still 30 days for you to contribute to the making of Super Troopers 2. Head over to the project's IndieGoGo page to look at the perks you'll receive for helping fund it.
