Blackwake, a Multiplayer Naval FPS focused on co-op hits Steam Early Access

If you're looking forward to Sea of Thieves, here's something to tide you over.

If you're just logging onto Steam for the first time this week, you might have noticed a game called Blackwake at the top of the digital distributor's Sale section. Blackwake officially launched yesterday into Steam Early Access after a successful Kickstarter back in 2015. The object of the game is simple; you hop on board a pirate ship in a crew of up to 16 players and duke it out with other enemy vessels until one reigns supreme.

Coordination and cooperation are essential to coming out victorious as not only are you contending with enemy ships; you might also find yourself dealing with a brutal storm in the middle of the ocean, further complicating battle. As of right now, Blackwake comes with 1v1 up to 3v3 matches and is purely a competitive multiplayer experience similar to that of Guns of Icarus.

Blackwake is developed by a two-person team called Mastfire Studios and is set to remain in Early Access until around Autumn 2017. The game is also currently running a 10% launch discount that will run until March 3rd and regularly retails for $19.99.
