BioWare Mythic Employee: "Old Republic will be one of the greatest failures in the history of MMOs"

Someone claiming to be a soon-to-be ex-employee of BioWare Mythic has posted a long rant about the company. In the blog post, "EA Louse" slams the management, talks about why Warhammer Online failed, and says that Star Wars: The Old Republic will be "one of the greatest failures in the history of MMOs from EA."

"I found out recently that I will be dismissed from Bioware Mythic during the next round of layoffs EA coming this November," the employee writes. "I’m sick of seeing EA outsource their art and find every excuse to get rid of us and still not achieve anything. Mythic is dying, and its not us who killed him but we’re taking the fall."

Among EA Louse's allegations is that the company has created a "culture of fear", and that former CEO of Mythic Entertainment Mark Jacobs didn't leave EA of his own volition after BioWare and Mythic were merged. "Oh, he left voluntarily you say?" EA Louse says. "No, he was fired, and everything placed on his shoulders by those closest to him so they could divide his salary and annual bonus. I bet Rob [Denton] is enjoying that sweet new Maserati he bought after leaving the knife in his partner of 15 years."

The employee continues, citing absentee managers, incompetency and lack of marketing as the main reasons for the failure of Warhammer Online. He slams everyone from Jeff Hickman to Eugene Evans to Paul Barnett, blaming all of them in some way for the game's problems. "All of them failed, badly, in Warhammer, and each of them is in a position of authority in the new company, while the rest of us are facing pink slips. How do they sleep at night? They spin around, blame everything on Mark, divide his old salary between them, and never speak about it again. Oh, and they fuck us little guys as well."

However, the most interesting part of the rant, in my opinion, is what EA Louse has to say about BioWare and Star Wars: The Old Republic, which has become the most expensive game ever produced by the developer. "And you know what they’re most proud of? This is the kicker. They are most proud of the sound. No seriously. Something like a 20Gig installation, and most of it is voiceover work. That’s the best they have. The rest of the game is a joke. EA knows it and so does George Lucas, they’re panicking, and so most of Mythic has already been cannibalized to work in Austin on it because they can’t keep pushing back launch."

"Old Republic will be one of the greatest failures in the history of MMOs from EA. Probably at the level of the Sims Online. We all know it too ……"

While the blog post is an interesting read, there's no way of knowing if "EA Louse" truly is an employee of BioWare Mythic, so until there's some kind of confirmation, I'd suggest taking it all with a big grain of salt.
