BioWare fans lead to the correction of Mass Effect novel

Mass Effect 3 - 876594

BioWare may have their hands full right now with Star Wars: The Old Republic and the development of Mass Effect 3, but that is no excuse for careless mistakes to be made in a Mass Effect novel.  Sure I understand that novels and video games are created in completely different fashions but when the same universe IP is used, there needs to be consistencies.

Mass Effect: Deception is a novel by William C. Dietz.  The problem is that the true fans of the series and of Mass Effect were blown away with the numerous inconsistencies and mistakes found within the text.  Due to these errors, there has been a huge fan backlash towards this book.

How much of an uprising you might ask?  There has been so much distain that the fans of Mass Effect created a list of all the inconsistencies and mailed BioWare with them.  Not only did BioWare acknowledge these errors, but community manager Chris Priestly already responded:

Mass Effect fans have been asking for a comment on recent concerns over Mass Effect: Deception. We have been listening and have the below response on the issue.

The teams at Del Rey and BioWare would like to extend our sincerest apologies to the Mass Effect fans for any errors and oversights made in the recent novel Mass Effect: Deception.  We are currently working on a number of changes that will appear in future editions of the novel.

We would like to thank all Mass Effect fans for their passion and dedication to this ever-growing world, and assure them that we are listening and taking this matter very seriously.

Well done BioWare, accept your mistakes and fix them.  It’s pretty awesome to have such a fan community who is willing to go all out to keep the IP’s pure.  It says a lot about BioWare’s willingness to fix textual mistakes and publish new editions.  Keeping things classy.
