Battle Bears -1 and Cordy Added to Xperia PLAY

Sony Ericsson's Xperia PLAY smartphone has been out for a little while now, and though we haven't seen much in the way of hard numbers, the phone seems to be selling well. Combining a slide-out game controller with a more traditional touchscreen input, the product makes gaming its focus. Over 60 games have been released for the device, and now Unity is adding two more.

The first game is Battle Bears -1, a third-person shooter that features bears gunning each other down in space--a classic concept. The game's style evokes that of the late Bizarre Creation's Dreamcast shooter Fur Fighters or Conker's Bad Fur Day. I can't imagine how this game (with a standard third-person shooter perspective) fares on other phones, but it's the perfect fit on the Xperia PLAY.

The second release is Cordy, a 2D platformer that's a bit reminiscent of Little Big Planet but without all the crazy level designing. While a simple platformer isn't a big deal, a game like this on a device that doubles as a phone is quite a sight. The graphics are vibrant and full, and the title seems like a lot of fun to play on a decent gamepad, as well.

While it's easy to be skeptical about the Xperia PLAY, releases like this do add a lot of appeal to the device. They're also a boon for Unity, which is trying to push its Union distribution service through releases on a variety of platforms. Does anyone have an Xperia PLAY? If so, what do you think of the device, and have you tried out any of these games yet?
