Atlus Launches Japan Site for Upcoming DS RPG
The 3DS has launched, but the DS is still the handheld of choice for developer Atlus. After releasing Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City and Radiant Historia for Nintendo's original dual screen handheld not long ago, the company now wants to focus on a brand new IP for the DS. The game is called Noora to Toki no Koubou, and its official Japanese site is now online.
Most of it appears in Japanese, except for the main tabs for story, characters, etc., which are in English. I don't know Japanese, but I sure as heck know English, and I don't think "charactor" is a real word. In any case, clicking on the "charactor" tab gives you some insight into the game's protagonist. As translated by Andriasang, it turns out a girl named Noora Brandor is mistaken for Vera, "the misty forest witch." Noora must embark on a quest to clear her name and bond with the townsfolk.
Noora has the power to manipulate time, and players will use this ability constantly throughout the adventure. The game takes place across several vast worlds over a three-year period, so it should prove interesting how Noora's powers will affect the in-game world. Noora to Toki no Koubou will include several endings, so expect some decision-making and multiple paths.
Atlus has managed to craft a solid foundation for RPGs on the DS. Noora to Toki no Koubou is set to launch in Japan on July 1, despite having just been announced. No word on the North American release yet, but let's hope we get it within the next year or so. This title looks especially promising.
