Assassin’s Creed and other Ubisoft franchises’ sales revealed

Video game publisher and developer Ubisoft has updated the lifetime sales figures for a number of its prominent franchises, including Assassin's Creed, Just Dance, Rayman, and Far Cry. Perhaps not so surprising, Assassin's Creed is the company's worldwide best selling franchise.

Although Ubisoft was founded in 1986, the Assassin's Creed franchise didn't begin shipping until 2007. Since then, the annually released series has combined to sell 73 million copies. That's almost double the next closest franchise, Just Dance, which has sold 48 million copies since the original game hit shelves in 2009. The Just Dance spin-off series — The Experience — was counted separately on the list, adding an additional 9 million in sales.

Below is the list of Ubisoft worldwide best selling franchises:

  • Assassin's Creed: 73 million
  • Just Dance: 48 million
  • Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: 30 million
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: 26 million
