Alien: Isolation 2 might not be in development after all

Creative Assembly apparently isn't working on a sequel to Alien: Isolation despite its success.

Creative Assembly, the team behind Alien: Isolation was previously rumored to be working on a sequel to the game. Unfortunately, it's being contradicted in a more recent report from Eurogamer, though their report is based on 'sources' as well – not the developer themselves.

The rumors began with Official PlayStation Magazine and were picked up by a number of large publications. It then spun out of control. "Our sources tell us that after work is finished on Halo Wars 2," said OPM, "a new Alien game may start development over at Alien Isolation dev Creative Assembly."

As mentioned, Creative Assembly is also the team behind Halo Wars 2, who have already started prototyping their next project, but the title definitely won't be an Alien title. In fact, the majority of the people who worked on Alien: Isolation actually don't work at Creative Assembly anymore.

"Currently the studio is fully focused on the development of Total War: Warhammer 2 and other as yet unannounced projects," Sega said. We already know one of these titles includes a new historical Total War title.

Alien: Isolation was critically favored with around 2 million sales (it hit the one million mark in 2015), but it was apparently not seen as a financial success by publisher Sega.
