Breakneck Weapons Information
Hi! It's time again for some SouthPeak Interactive game information! Today I wanted to let you know that SouthPeak released information about the weapons systems available in its upcoming PC racing title BREAKNECK, which ships to stores on June 22.
Mark Prindle TSI -------------------
The weapons can be accessed in any of the Shoot Out races and include:
- Machine Gun - The Gatling is part of every racing driver's standard kit. The actual damage done by a Gatling is minimal, but an opponent who is hit will temporarily lose his concentration and slow down. To destroy your opponent completely, you'll have to empty half the magazine at him.
- Oil Thrower - You can use this accessory up to five times to spoil your opponents' day. But watch out on those really winding tracks! The puddles of oil have a nasty habit of hanging around for a while and sneaking up on you when you least expect it.
- Nail Thrower - Big favorites with racing drivers, up to one hundred little five-pointed metal stars per shot will rip any tire to shreds. The tires burst, making the vehicle virtually impossible to control.
- Nail Cannon - Like the nail thrower, the nail cannon aims for the tires on your opponents' vehicles. This will only annoy competitors who are ahead of you. The cannon only destroys a single tire, so your enemy won't lose control of his vehicle completely.
- Tire Slasher - This can cause an awesome amount of grief, especially at the start. While a shot from the Gatling will slow your opponent, causing you to shunt him if you're too close, the slasher can be used without fear of any comeback. Creep alongside your rival and activate the cutter.
- Mine Layer - Use the mine layer to wipe out the vehicle behind you. The mines are dropped onto the road and explode as soon as a vehicle drives over them. Like the oil, however, the mines can hang around for a while.
- Heat Seeking Missiles - Hideously expensive but highly effective. The new generation of missiles has been fitted with homing devices that make evasion virtually impossible without a Missile Controller. You shouldn't use missiles lightly though, because they are pricey. But a well-aimed shot can eliminate the championship leader from the race and reshuffle the pack.
- E.M.P. Rocket - These rockets get under the hood of the vehicle in front of you and paralyze its entire electrical system - including power steering and brake booster - for a few seconds. The vehicle is uncontrollable; the engine dies and has to be restarted. Unfortunately, these rockets have no homing device, so you'll have to take very good aim at the vehicle in front.
- Missile Controller - This is about the meanest defense system there is. If someone fires a missile at you, just activeate the controller to return it to sender.
- Mortar - This is an outstanding offensive weapon. The bombs will do horrible damage to your opponent's vehicle, and just a few hits will force him out of the race completely. With its 30 mortar bombs, the mortar is far more efficient than any other weapon.
- Marionator - This weapon reduces the size of your opponent's vehicle by 50%. As soon as it starts to work, the other vehicle's engine will over-rev and become damaged. And its speed drops too!
- Bungee Reverse - If you are pursuing a vehicle but can't get near enough to pass it, use this weapon. It jerks your opponent back a few meters, as if he were on a giant rubber band - far enough for you to overtake him with ease.
- Engine Manager - Use this weapon to slash your opponent's engine power by 50%.
- Brake Manager - This weapon works like the Engine Manager, except that it reduces braking power by 70%.
- Power Steering - Your opponent's power steering will steer the wrong way for a few seconds, sending him wobbling down the track. |
