ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO, LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
May 9, 2000--Build your own real estate empire from the ground up with Hasbro
Interactive's
(NYSE:HAS) MONOPOLY TYCOON(tm) game, an all-new way to experience the
world's greatest game. Now you're the big-time real estate developer
in charge of making all the decisions. You can buy your favorite
property from the MONOPOLY game, decide how to develop it and then, if
you're successful, keep your 3D city running smoothly and its
residents happy. But the challenge doesn't end there. Campaign against
other would-be tycoons for the ultimate honor of becoming the mayor of
your 3D city. In addition, MONOPOLY TYCOON sets a new standard as the
only city-building sim game that truly creates a real-world experience
by allowing you to go head-to-head with other players in real-time
Internet play.
"Monopoly
Tycoon melds the best of Monopoly and Roller Coaster Tycoon, taking
Monopoly's signature `own it all' theme to fun new levels in a
simulation game that's going to have very broad appeal,"
commented Tom Dusenberry, President, Hasbro Interactive.
MONOPOLY
TYCOON begins in the 1930s, when the original MONOPOLY game was
introduced, and progresses in real-time through the decades up to the
year 2000. As the game advances, the architecture of the buildings and
the needs and professions of the people change according to the
decade. Players get to see their city in the daylight and wee hours of
the late night, and every hour in between. There's lots of work to do
and decisions to hash through, as players compete to become mayor of
the city and try to be the first to earn $1 million, or be the
wealthiest player by the year 2000.
With
a click of the mouse, players interact with the city's residents to
find out what the people need and want. Listening to the residents of
their fair city helps players formulate strategies to determine what
properties to buy and how to develop them. Make your city the most
successful by constructing residential, commercial and industrial
buildings that keep the population happy and offer the best deals
around.
"We're
excited about the opportunity to take Monopoly's gameplay to a
dramatically deeper level," said Clive Robert, Director of Deep
Red Games, the game's U.K.-based developer. "Monopoly Tycoon will
have all the fun detail of a great sim game, along with the
nostalgia-evoking Monopoly themes that we all grew up with. People are
going to want to spend countless hours with this game."
From
the animated MR. MONOPOLY, who serves as your on-screen guide and
auctioneer, to all the classic icons, like BOARDWALK, MARVIN GARDENS,
READING RAILROAD and the WATER WORKS, the MONOPOLY TYCOON game
includes all of the classic elements of the MONOPOLY game. The fun
plays out in the developer's great attention to detail. For example,
tokens selected at the beginning of each game represent where player's
fortunes, or misfortunes, come from. If a player selects the race car
as their game token, his or her money will come from auto racing, of
course. The "COMMUNITY CHEST" newspaper chronicles historic
events that effect game play and keep a log of real estate
transactions within the current game for all players to see and learn
from.
The
MONOPOLY TYCOON game (Windows(R) 95/98) is the only city-building
simulation game that can be played simultaneously with up to three
other players on LAN or via the Internet. The MONOPOLY TYCOON game is
suited for ages 12 and up.
The
MONOPOLY TYCOON game will be shown at the Electronic Entertainment
Expo, May 11-13, in the Los Angeles Convention Center, (Hasbro
Interactive, Booth no.946 in the South Hall).
