3DS eShop Gets Donkey Kong

One of the games we really wanted to see hit the 3DS and get the visual enhancement it deserved was Donkey Kong for the original Game Boy. That game provided excellent puzzle platforming gameplay across 100 levels. These days it's still fun to play, so it's great to see that it has arrived on the 3DS Virtual Console.

If you were hoping it would receive the 3D treatment, you may be disappointed to learn that this is a straight port of the Game Boy classic. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Donkey Kong is awesome as it is.

If you're in the market for some new downloadable titles, be sure to consider Donkey Kong for the 3DS. You'll need something to keep you busy until The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D launches this weekend. Even if Ocarina of Time 3D isn't on your to-buy list, you should still download Donkey Kong. It's only $3.99. That's not a bad price for a kick-ass game.

Apart from Donkey Kong, Nintendo's virtual space is cluttered with the usual round of shovelware. Although you may be interested to know that Mega Man 5 has hit the Wii Virtual Console, and it is most definitely a worthwhile purchase. You can also check out the demo for Bit.Trip Flux, but I recommend skipping it and going with MM5 instead.
