38 Studios founder Curt Schilling speaks out

Copernicus - 2

Today 38 Studios founder Curt Schilling spoke about the widespread layoffs at his company.

Schilling said Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee's statements were "devastating." Chafee betrayed the company's wishes, revealing that the launch date of the upcoming Project Copernicus had been delayed until June 2013 and announcing that the state was trying to keep the studio “solvent.” Within 72 hours of that breach, a game publisher pulled out of a crucial deal.

According to Schilling, one publisher was willing to invest $35 million into a Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning sequel.

Earlier the 38 Studios head posted images of what he calls "the most magical, breathtaking, and awe inspiring world ever created"—the centerpieces of the MMO Copernicus.
