Sony has announced next month's lineup of free PS4, PS3 and Vita games for PlayStation Plus members in the United States. Honestly, it's a bit of a disappointment. But I'll never complain about "free" games, so let's take a look at what's in store for PS Plus members for September 2014.

PlayStation 4

Velocity 2X

Velocity 2X is an arcade shoot 'em up where you infiltrate space stations, moon bases and alien planets to disrupt the crushing tyranny imposed by the evil Vokh Empire.

Sportsfriends

Sportsfriends is an assortment of local multiplayer games perfect for parties. Featuring: retro-styled fighting game BaraBariBall, QWOP-like pole vault dueling game Super Pole Riders, high-velocity sports game Hokra, and face-to-face physical party game Johann Sebastian Joust. While Johann Sebastian Joust can be played with the PlayStation Move controller, all games are playable with the DualShock 4.

PlayStation 3

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Sony's answer to Nintendo's Super Smash Bros.PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is a competitive mascot brawler featuring some of PlayStation's most iconic characters as they duke it out across various PlayStation game environments. It didn't get the best reviews upon release, but it's still an entertaining game.

Hoard

Hoard is a fast-paced arcade action-strategy game that puts you in control of conquering a medieval kingdom. As the dragon, your goal is to build a giant pile of gold to sleep on in your lair by scaring villages, burning castles and roasting knights and thieves.

PlayStation Vita

Joe Danger

Joe Danger

Joe Danger is a physics-based platformer with super-smooth 60 frames per second and vibrant colors. The Vita version features a revamped control scheme, including touch controls for the editor modes.

TxK

TxK brings you 100 levels of score-chasing, arcade shooting gameplay. Glowing vectors, explosive particle effects, and a pulse-pounding soundtrack are just the beginning.

As a reminder, all PS Plus games are released on the first Tuesday of each month. That means these free games will be made available on September 2nd for PS Plus members. It also means you have until September 2nd to download any remaining games from August's lineup.

With Sony's PS Plus games announced, all that's left is to wait for Microsoft to reveal September's Games with Gold for Xbox One and Xbox 360.
