Microsoft's decision to bite the bullet and start selling gamers a Kinect-less Xbox One for $399 -- $100 cheaper than the cost of the original Xbox One bundle with the Kinect -- appears to be paying off. The console manufacturer announced that sales of the Xbox One during the month of June have more than doubled in the U.S. compared to sales in May. Xbox 360 sales also saw "solid growth," Microsoft said.

Tempering the excitement is the fact that Microsoft didn't reveal any hard numbers, so it's hard to really gauge how much of an effect the newly priced Xbox One had on sales.

While much of the Xbox One's sales in June can be attributed to a cheaper SKU, I'm sure the lineup of upcoming games also has something to do with it. Looking ahead, Xbox One has quite a few impressive-looking exclusives including Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2 and Ori and the Blind Forest. Then there's also a slew of third-party titles (that will also be coming to PlayStation, of course), but this list includes Assassin's Creed Unity, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Evolve, and Destiny.

"Gamers love the holidays and we are lining up incredible deals and special promotions to celebrate. The fun is just getting started and we can’t wait to share more exciting news soon," Microsoft said.
