Mario Kart 8 playable at select GameStop stores this weekend
I always get excited walking through Town Center Mall in Boca Raton, Florida with my four-year-old son, walking by the GameStop there and seeing a Nintendo representative playing a Wii U demo with kids and giving them sticker books. That's what Nintendo needs to be doing, getting their games and console into the hands of kids, so they can go beg their parents to buy them a Wii U. So I'm especially excited that Mario Kart 8, which is the most system-seller-ish exclusive title the Wii U has yet to have, will be coming to select GameStop stores this weekend.
Playable at more than 2,700 GameStop stores around the U.S. from 12 to 4 p.m. (local time) on May 17 and May 18, kids and adults can play Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U as part of Nintendo's "Mario Kart 8 Test Drive Days." Also, anyone that pre-orders the game or already has it pre-ordered will receive an exclusive double-sided poster.
Mario Kart 8 is the first entry of the franchise on the Wii U console. It features anti-gravity racing, which lets players drive upside-down on some of the tracks, tons of playable characters including new ones like all seven of Bowser's Koopalings, and new items like the player-chomping Piranha Plant and blue Spiny Shell-stopping Super Horn. Online Multiplayer supports up to 12 players.
