Epic Games announces a community driven Unreal Tournament

Gamers have helped fund games, but have they ever helped develop games? If not, they'll get the chance to now.

Unreal Tournament is not only back, but it's also gone crowd-sourced. Epic Games announced that their long-running multiplayer FPS franchise will return for PC, Mac, and Linux. Powered by Unreal Engine 4 and the community, the sky's the limit for the folks at Epic.

"We know that fans of the game area s passionate about Unreal Tournament as we are," a blog post on Epic's site reads. "We know that you have great ideas and strong opinions about where the game should go and what it should be. So let's do something radical and make this game together, in the open, and for all of us."

Unreal Tournmanet will have community input from day one (which was yesterday) and stick true to its competitive FPS roots. A team of Unreal Tournament veterans are already working on the game, but if you're wanting to join the cause, you're more than welcome to.

Man, I have so many memories of playing Unreal Tournament during lunch in my High Schoo's engineering lab. I miss those days.
