New PS4 screenshots of MLB 14 The Show

One of MLB 14 The Show's "Baseball is Better" spokesmen is Cincinnati Reds star Brandon Phillips. So it's fitting that some of the new screenshots for the PS4 version The Show include the star player, who is the fifth highest rated second baseman in this year's game. While the new screenshots of Phillips are from a recent preview event attended by Bleacher Report, Sony San Diego has posted a slew of other PS4 shots on the game's official Facebook page. The screenshots show off some excellent action shots, but more importantly highlight the most noticable improvement on the PS4 version of MLB 14 The Show, the graphics.

Over the past few weeks Sony has been touting all of the new features of MLB 14 The Show, including Quick Counts and Player Lock, but even the developer has been quick to point out the improved graphics made possible by the next-gen hardware. Sony explained, "Moving to PS4, which boasts 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM, we are able to properly represent the true nature of the surfaces. With the added horsepower of PS4, we can create more detailed representation of elements within the stadium. With the added memory, we can increase the texture size, and use higher resolution normal maps to push the illusion of reality."

MLB 14 The Show is due out on April 1 for PS3 and Vita. The PS4 version will arrive about a month later on May 6. Are the graphics worth the wait? I'd say so.
