Epic is still making games. Remember Fortnite?

Posted by: Matt Liebl

Just because Epic Games sold the rights of its iconic Gears of War franchise to Microsoft today, doesn't mean the company is ditching game development entirely.

"For people saying Epic isn't making games anymore, we currently have multiple games in development, including [Fortnite]," Epic spokesperson Wes Phillips said on the Twitter machine this morning.

For those unfamiliar (or those who can't remember all the way back to December 2011), Fortnite is Epic's co-op sandbox survival game. Fully revealed in July 2012Fortnite was confirmed as PC exclusive and the first game to use Unreal Engine 4. In the game, you explore, forage, collaborate and build by day in the dynamic and expanding world. At night, you work together to defend the fortress from the forces of darkness.

Although it drew considerable hype during its reveal, there really hasn't been much new info surrounding the game. Hopefully with the whole Gears transaction completed, Epic can now talk more about Fornite.
