Get ready for some big numbers, folks. When Sony first revealed the PlayStation 4's built-in gameplay streaming and sharing functionality, Twitch knew it would be a "game changer." After all, gamers love sharing their best gameplay moments -- and the PS4 makes this easier than ever.

So it should come as much of a surprise that more than 1.7 million gameplay broadcasts have been streamed for PS4 systems via Twitch and Ustream, totaling more than 55 million minutes.

Gameplay broadcasts are said to generate nearly 22 million spectate sessions, with Ustream reporting an average of 40 minutes of streaming per broadcaster.

According to Twitch, 20 percent of all their broadcasters are PS4 owners. "Based on our success with PlayStation 4, which currently represents twenty percent of our broadcaster base, our vision was on the mark," Twitch's VP of marketing, Matthew DiPietro, said in a press release. "We envision a day when broadcasting your gameplay is a ubiquitous piece of the gaming experience. We're well on our way."

As of December, Sony has sold more than 4.2 million PlayStation 4 consoles and over 9.7 million games. Today they also unveiled PlayStation Now, a new service that will allow people to stream PSOne, PS2, and PS3 games to their PS4, Vita, or other electronic device.
