Journey, one of the PlayStation 3's most hailed titles, was often described as an "experience." Fast forward to Sony's Gamescom 2013 presentation and Rime evoked a similar feeling upon its reveal.

"It was hugely emotional for us after being silent for so long. Not being able to talk about Rime publically or show what we’d been pouring our creativity into for so long was really difficult," Tequila Works creative director Raúl Rubio Munárriz said on the PlayStation blog.

Although the reveal was only a minute-or-so long, Rime left a lasting impression among viewers. Its breathtaking world has stylized beauty, with mystery that intrigues soon-to-be PlayStation 4 owners. It's proof that not all games on next-gen have to be AAA blockbusters with super-realistic graphics and tons of explosions.

"For us, it’s not just about technology (although that’s important too!), it’s about how you create an experience – how you breathe life into your creation and set it free," Munárriz concluded. "Rime is a very personal project and, together with Sony, we have high hopes for our offspring!"

Sony released an extended trailer for the game along with a batch of intriguing screenshots. Will Rime be the PS4's Journey?
