Infinity Blade: Dungeons canceled, but it's not all bad news

Infinity Blade: Dungeons is officially canceled. The news came during a recent episode of the official Epic Games podcast from chair co-founder and creative director Donald Mustard himself.

"When the studio that was working on [Dungeons] was closed, the game was canceled," Mustard said, referring to closure of Impossible Games back in February. Impossible Games was staffed by members of Big Huge Games, the developers of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning who were laid off as part of Curt Schilling's 38 Studios bankruptcy. While under Epic Games, they were tasked with developing Infinity Blade: Dungeons, but for some reason things weren't working out.

At the time, Epic Games said they'd attempt to "figure out the future" of the Infinity Blade: Dungeons project. That future may be over, but the future of Infinity Blades as a series will continue.

"There's more we at Chair are totally planning to do in the Infinity Blade universe," Mustard continued. "More Games, more books, maybe even other products. And we are very excited about that."

While I'm saddened I won't get to see Infinity Blade: Dungeons, I take comfort in knowing Epic Games isn't entirely abandoning the franchise.
