NewsSquare Enix changes leadership, focuses on mobile games
In conjunction with a numerous leadership changes, Square Enix has announced that it will be shifting its focus from AAA games to mobile.
Darrell Gallagher, who was the head of Crystal Dynamics, is now the head of studios for Square Enix's North American and European operations, while retaining his role at Crystal Dynamics for now. Meanwhile, David Anfossi, previously an executive producer on Deus Ex: Human Revolution, will be the head of Eidos Montreal and will oversee development on Thief. Patrick Naud is the studio head for Square Enix Montreal, who will, for now, be working on Hitman projects.
Some of these moves will result in a focus shift from AAA games to mobile -- specifically tablets. Square Enix Montreal will be focusing on mobile games.
The first mobile/tablet game for this mobile initiative is Deus Ex: The Fall, a story-driven action RPG dropping on mobile and tablet devices this summer.
